The Phoenix and the Dragon is a true family run business, owned and operated by husband and wife team, Eric and Zarina Sakai.

Eric and Zarina's culinary careers span over fifteen years working at acclaimed establishments in Honolulu, Maui, San Francisco Bay Area, Carlsbad and Jackson Hole.

Most notably, Eric has worked at Michelin starred restaurants ✽ Rubicon (San Francisco) and ✽✽ Acquerello (San Francisco), AAA five-diamond & Forbes five-star Four Seasons Resort (Jackson Hole) and Park Hyatt Aviara (Carlsbad). 

Zarina has worked at Michelin starred restaurants ✽✽ Jean Georges (New York City) and ✽✽✽ The French Laundry (Yountville), AAA five-diamond & Forbes five-star Four Seasons Resort (Jackson Hole) and Rancho Valencia (Rancho Santa Fe). 

Both are graduates of The Culinary Institute of America (2004 & 2005). In 2015, Eric won Food & Wine Magazine's award for People's Best New Chef Northwest & Pacific. He was also named one of the 8 Most Exciting Chefs in the West by Thrillist. Zarina is a certified wine professional and certified specialist of wine. In 2015, she garnered a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for curating the wine list at their previous restaurant, Restaurant Marron in Seattle.
